Rod A. Covey


Rod is an honors graduate of the School of Journalism, The Ohio State University. He was a staff writer for Industry Week magazine in Cleveland, a reporter at a Chicago suburban daily newspaper and has been published free-lance by Cleveland Magazine.

Rod joined the agency (then known as Covey & Koons, Inc.) in June, 1979, as a copywriter and came up the ranks as account executive, vice president and then president in 1999. He launched Covey-Odell Advertising in 2008; the company was named Business of the Year in 2009 by North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Several major advertising campaigns that Rod has written for our clients have won creative-excellence awards. He has also planned and written public relations campaigns as well as audio-visual and broadcast projects.

Throughout the years, Rod has been active in the Canton Ad Club, United Way, United Arts Fund, Mental Health Association, American Heart Association, Star Academy Foundation, Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, Buckeye Council, BSA, Heritage Christian School, and North Canton Master Plan Steering Committee.

Rod and his wife Kathie mesh their journalism and English backgrounds for Covey-Odell Advertising. They also are very involved in the lives of their blended family of five adult children.
