Nestled in a picturesque valley in the Italian Alps, the property boasts breathtaking views of mountains and forests as far as the eye can see. But what truly sets this hotel apart is its offering of one-of-a-kind experiences that cannot be found anywhere else.
Just imagine starting your day with breakfast in the company of alpacas, sipping an aperitif in the infinity pool overlooking the majestic mountains, or indulging in a romantic dinner in a private chalet with your significant other.
After seeing countless photos and videos of this place, you may be wondering: does it live up to the hype? Is it truly worth all the buzz?

“Nestled in Vermiglio, a quaint town in the province of Trento, lies Chalet al Foss. It is conveniently located less than a 2-hour drive from Bolzano or just over 3 hours from Milan. Both cities boast airports, but Milan’s is larger and offers more international flights, making it the ideal choice for those traveling from abroad.
No matter which airport you choose, I highly recommend renting a car for your stay. The hotel’s remote location makes it challenging to reach by public transport. Plus, having a car at your disposal allows for a scenic road trip through the stunning Dolomites and easy exploration of the surrounding area.
Upon our arrival at the hotel, the staff greeted us warmly and treated us to a refreshing welcome drink. As we sipped our beverages, we discussed the schedule of our exclusive experiences.
As mentioned before, Chalet al Foss is renowned for its one-of-a-kind activities that cannot be found anywhere else. From intimate private dinners by the pool to indulging in a forest breakfast, there is something for every guest to enjoy.
Overall, the check-in process was seamless and efficient. After a brief tour of the property by the staff, we were on our way to our room, eager to begin our unforgettable stay at Chalet al Foss.”

Upon entering, you will be greeted by the first bedroom, complete with a spacious king-size bed, a fully-equipped bathroom, and a charming small terrace. The highlight of this terrace is its breathtaking view of the alpacas’ shelters, allowing you to wake up to the sight of their adorable faces every morning. “Despite my initial admiration for the ground floor of our room, the true highlight was undoubtedly the upstairs loft. Ascending the stairs, one is greeted by a magnificent glass walk-in shower, perfect for indulging in some much-needed relaxation after a day of exploration.

The upper level also boasts a charming sitting area adorned with rustic wooden benches, as well as a second bedroom furnished with a luxurious king-sized bed and a stunning free-standing bathtub.”
“The true highlight of our lodge was undoubtedly the exquisite outdoor terrace, complete with a luxurious hot tub that offered unparalleled views of the majestic mountains. My disbelief was palpable upon first laying eyes on this breathtaking sight. Needless to say, our days were spent indulging in the soothing waters while basking in the awe-inspiring scenery. For a one-of-a-kind and utterly romantic experience, I highly recommend booking a stay at one of the Alpin Lodges during your visit to Chalet al Foss.”

“The wellness and spa area at Chalet al Foss is a true gem among the property’s many highlights. For those seeking a tranquil mountain retreat, look no further as you will be pampered with the utmost care and comfort!
Indulge in the H2O Alpin Spa, where a variety of amenities await you, including a refreshing swimming pool, a rejuvenating Turkish bath, and a soothing bio sauna. Even if the weather outside is chilly, you can still bask in the warmth and serenity of these facilities.
But the true sanctuary lies within the spa’s extensive menu of treatments and massages, designed to soothe your body and mind.
In addition to the indoor spa, Chalet Al Foss boasts a sprawling outdoor area that truly steals the show. Here, you can revel in the breathtaking views of the Presanella Glacier from the glass infinity pool, unwind in the panoramic Finnish sauna, or soak in the hot tubs on chilly evenings.
Don’t worry about the temperature, as the infinity pool is heated and available for use even during colder months. However, do note that it can get quite crowded if the hotel is fully booked due to its smaller size.
To add to the already idyllic atmosphere, a live DJ sets the mood with delightful tunes every afternoon by the infinity pool.
The spa area is open daily from 10 am to 7 pm, but the early mornings and late evenings are reserved for exclusive experiences such as a floating breakfast in the pool or aperitifs in the hot tub (more on those in the next section!).”

“Indulging in a floating breakfast at the infinity pool is a must-try experience at Chalet Al Foss. So much so, that it was fully booked during our stay! To secure a spot for this popular activity, be sure to make your reservation as early as possible.
But fear not, if the floating breakfast is unavailable, you can still savor the moment with a floating aperitif instead! This delightful alternative offers a similar experience, but with a selection of savory snacks and refreshing drinks, and takes place in the evening rather than the morning.
It’s the perfect opportunity to unwind and bask in the breathtaking sunset views of the majestic mountains in complete tranquility. And for a touch of romance, you can even add a bottle of bubbly to complete the experience – the ultimate way to end your day.”
Fire hot tub aperitif
“Much like the floating aperitif, you have the option to indulge in a fiery hot tub aperitif. This exclusive experience offers the same luxurious ambiance, but with the added element of being immersed in a hot tub. The rustic wooden board will be adorned with delectable treats such as pizza slices, cured meats, and caviar, all accompanied by a bottle of champagne. As you bask in the warmth of the fire at the center of the hot tub, you can also take in the breathtaking mountain views. Our experience at Chalet al Foss was truly elevated by this romantic aperitif, which quickly became a highlight of our stay. Interestingly enough, we initially booked the floating aperitif, but were fortunate enough to also enjoy the fire hot tub aperitif due to a cancellation. This is why you may notice the same floating tray in both pictures – we simply moved it from the pool to the hot tub!”
Breakfast with the alpacas
“Among the many popular attractions at Chalet al Foss, the Breakfast with Alpacas experience stands out as a must-try. This unique experience allows guests to dine with the hotel’s two resident alpacas, Happy and Bernard, in the beautiful garden setting.
Guests can indulge in a delectable spread of local delicacies, including freshly-baked pastries, yogurt, and homemade jams, while the friendly alpacas roam around them. It’s a perfect choice for those seeking a fun and unconventional activity during their stay.
Unfortunately, just like the popular floating breakfast, this experience was fully booked during our visit. However, for those lucky enough to secure a spot, it promises to be an unforgettable experience.
Since we were unable to partake in the Breakfast with Alpacas, we decided to flip the script and treat the alpacas to breakfast instead! We were given a plate of carrots and salads, which the alpacas happily munched on. It was a delightful and amusing way to interact with these adorable creatures, and I couldn’t resist their cute little faces.
During the day, Happy and Bernard reside in their shelter near the garden, and visitors are welcome to visit them at any time. These lovable alpacas made our stay even more special, and it was a joy to spend time with them.”

“The six-course exquisite dinner is meticulously crafted by the masterful chef, featuring two distinct options – a vegetarian selection and a delectable meat-based offering. With a menu that evolves with the changing seasons, the emphasis is placed on utilizing locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.
For our sweet finale, we were presented with a charming box filled with homemade confections and pastries that were simply divine! Deciding to indulge in the comfort of our room, we snuggled up in bed and savored each delectable bite while enjoying a movie. Adorned with charming wooden benches and heart-shaped tables, the garden boasts a unique feature – each table is accompanied by a petite fountain that gushes pure, mountain-sourced drinking water.”
“Your stay includes a delectable breakfast, perfect for those looking to simply relax and indulge in the mouth-watering dishes served at the restaurant. With an a la carte option, you have the freedom to choose from a variety of egg dishes, meats, cheeses, bread, pastries, and fresh fruits. The Egg Benedict is a must-try and the pastries are simply irresistible!
For lunch or dinner, you have the option to dine at the main restaurant with its classic Italian dishes or opt for a more gourmet experience at the other restaurant. We chose the former, mesmerized by the stunning view of the mountains and thoroughly enjoying the traditional Italian dishes that are renowned all over the country.
The food was truly divine and the atmosphere was delightful. To top it off, a wide selection of Italian wines is also available for you to choose from. Indulge in a truly unique and unforgettable dining experience during your stay.”
